Film Tournament Playoff:

The Film Tournament Playoff selects the top four ranking films from the FTP Poll. These four films "Front Four" will compete in a bracket style elimination process that will conclude with two of the four films competing for the FTP Motion Picture Title.

Process:

The Film Tournament System initiates its first poll on January 1st of each year. The final poll lists on February 1. The top four films in the Playoff Poll will be given a FTP bid to accept. If any of the four films are in position of competing for a Conference Championship then they have the option to reject the bid and compete for the Conference Championship and an Ordina Bid subsequently or accept the FTP bid. Before the bid is accepted each of the four films are cautioned that should they accept the FTP bid 1) They relinquish their position to compete for a Conference Championship 2) Their position in the FTP can be contested should a film with equal record and points file an Appeal for Application (This happens usually by a film that ranked 5,6,7 or 8th and seeks to enter the Film Tournament Playoff). If an application by an film who files should get accepted then this would boot one of the Front Four from position. The film to get removed will no longer have Conference Championship access (if applicable) they will however be placed in an Ordina game as an “At Large”.

With the preliminaries cleared,  the first round happens the first Saturday in March with the FTP Title Match taking place on Sunday the next day.

Ordina Championship Series and process:

The Ordina Championship Series is a post season series of events that serves as an alternative and competitor of the Film Tournament Playoff. Films that are in position of Conference Championships such as the Motion Picture Standard, Metric, Conventional, Independent or Foreign Market are automatically placed for an Ordina Bid. If any of the films positioned for a Conference Championship is in the top 4 TPA Rankings they have the option of accepting and competing with a Film Tournament Playoff Bid or accepting to compete in their particular Conference Championship and subsequently an Ordina Game. NOTE: Accepting a Film Tournament Playoff Bid or applying for a FPT Bid through appeal will automatically disqualify a film in position from competing for a Conference Championship, however, the film will be able to compete in an Ordina game via “At Large”. If a film is a ranking film but not in conference championship position and files for an FTP bid and the bid gets rejected then that film will no longer have access to an Ordina bid. Its called a ZERO OUT. The 2 senior ranking films after the Front Four (if the top 4 decline the bid) will compete for the Ordina Championship Series Title Game aka OCS Cinema Title.

AT LARGE PROCESS: When an Ordina is listed  as TPA POLL AT LARGE it means that that particular Ordina can invite any film within the TPA Polls 21 Ranking that hasn't already had a post season designation. Regardless of ranking, any film within the 21 can be invited thus leaving some films with higher rankings without an Ordina home. When a film doesn't get invited this is called getting the "Black Curtain".

Registered Ordina Championship Series Games:

The OCS has designed for Conference Championship winners to compete in an Ordina game with also some space for TPA Poll members and Motion Picture Foreign Market. Here is the current OCS games and placements.
